Surmullet
The surmullet has a spindly body, thickest directly behind the head, which tapers from head to tail. It has two dorsal fins, two side fins
near gills and one abdominal next to tail. Its tail is yellowish, of regular shape and consists of two equally large fins. In the middle of the
tail there is a notch. The surmullet has a red-brownish back with longitudinal darker red and brown stripes across the waist and thinner
beneath yellowish lateral stripes and white belly. The chin has two elongated gropes with purpose is to dig in the sand looking for food. It
can grow up to 1.5 kg, 50 cm in length and get 10 years of age but mullets as old are rare.
With its tentacle mullet digs worms, crabs and small fish buried deeper in the sand. In winter, the surmullet goes deeper and in summer
comes to the shallows. They move in flocks of several individuals.
Trlja kamenjarka
Trlja kamenjarka ima vretenasto tijelo, neposredno iza glave najdeblje, koje se sužava od glave prema repu. Ima dvije leđne peraje, dvije
bočne uz škrge i jednu trbušnu uz rep. Rep joj je žućkast i pravilnog oblika a čine ga dvije podjednako velike peraje. U sredini repa je
urez.
1.5 kg težine, 50 cm dužine [1] i 10 godina starosti no takve su ipak rijetke.
Pomoću pipaka kopajući pronalazi crviće, račiće i manje ribe zakopane dublje u pijesku. Zimi se kamenjarke drže dubine zbog hladnoće a
ljeti zalaze u plićak. Kreću se u jatima od više jedinki.
